Help us commemorate one of the most momentous events in British history - the Great Fire of London.
Join Jonathan, playing characters including Thomas Farriner and Samuel Pepys, as well as our workshop leader, Marianne, as we bring this terrible time to the classroom in our vivid Tales of Fire workshop.
The workshop is perfect for Key Stage 1 or 2. For one class we can offer half-a-day's workshop and for two classes we would come in for the whole day.
Our expertly researched workshop includes:
* Dramatic scene-setting, taking the class back to the 1660s and the period just before the Great Fire with a look at the Great Plague and the weirdly wonderful Plague Doctor.
* The appearance of baker Thomas Farriner who not only has a terrifying tale to tell but will involve the whole class in a special re-enactment (starring its liveliest member!).
* The entrance of the extravagantly dressed, amusingly pompous Samuel Pepys who will share snippets from his diary and oversee a delightful diary-writing exercise.
Throughout we will use lots of relevant props, illustrations and documents from the time and there will be plenty of opportunities for questions.
Tales of Fire is a two-person, London-based company and we are happy to travel to any school within the Greater London area or home counties.

Alongside our workshops and guided walks focusing solely on the Great Fire we also offer Great Fire AND Great Plague Workshops and other plague-related workshops and walks including a popular one called The Black Death and the Medieval Experience- courtesy of our fabulous Tales of Plague
